So during the third class we got to compared the two different readings but what I really considered to be the main important issue when one of the students raise the question "Why do we put so much importance into race?" Well, in the begging I thought the same... I didn't think that we should ask people around "what are you?" but "who are you?" so try to just get to know the person without all the background information if a person is outgoing would change my prospective about that person if h/she is from one race instead of an other one? I don't think so.
But later in the week I read a book about Italian immigrant into the U.S. and that made me realize that found out about each race is important because what the past generation is been through made us. we can't say that we are all the same, we are different, we are like different colors, they are all beautiful and all different. I considered that if we were all the same, coming from the same background, speaking the same language, wouldn't be so boring?
Races are beautiful and said that we shouldn’t pay that much attention to it, it's kind of silly because you don't want offend anyone first, each race has a history, culture and mentality that it should be considered instead of hiding it. If race is not important than why when a black guy says a joke about black people is funny and when a white guy says it, it's offensive?
