School for Citizens; Preserving the Republic

I loved reading this chapter, I considered so interesting for different aspect but the main one was how education can influence students because I never notice that before I didn't think that what a student thinks today is because definitely someone put those idea in his/her head, so we need to be very careful to understand what we say and how we say it. As the reading as been advising schools should teach always good values, but here I am thinking what are the good values, I consider that there are universal values as "do not kill people" If you want get respect, you need to give respect" and "Follow the rules". I don't think there is a problem about rules or values, I believe the real problem is when a complicated element as the politics comes into the classroom then here comes problems because I believe it's hard to explain politics to students without put your personal opinion. So if a teacher today have to discuss of politics in class and puts her/his own opinion into the discuss there is a big chance that student will support the opinion on the teacher. I had an experience about a teacher that liked to discuss politics in class but she didn't like when someone had a different idea from her so this experience made me so confused about politics and I don't really like it because of her. Feed to student one view of the situation is wrong. Plus I couldn't believe what I was reading when it was suggest to teach politics as religion! this would go back to my discussion of have only one point of view where here there are the bad and here the good people! It doesn't make any sense!
An other point that I like to make about this chapter is that I loved the idea about this beautiful community and idea about what social education should be I was so exited that I want to say I want be part of this too, I want become one of those teacher that student will thank later on fro giving more than just a lesson but lessons about life! well somehow I couldn’t be part because I am an immigrant and only Citizens who were native born, rural yeomen, Protestants, and not poor needed only to be reminded of their duties can belong to this wonderful project and the immigrations seemed to be considered a problem that they want to minimize as much as possible because in pg. 17 the sentence "The consequences of foreign education are alarming to me as an American" i think that people are scared of what you don't know. Once I read an article that was commenting the quote "Welcome to America, now speak English!" is a was too say that when you can't understand what people say and you don't have to leave your country to let that happen you feel threaten and scare because you are not in control of your situation. it doesn’t offend people especially a person as me.
